Choir
The LAHS Choir program brings together singers across several ensembles at all levels of experience. Students grow as musicians throughout the year and represent LAHS at performances and festivals across the region.
Director: Lauren Diez.
Piano accompanist: Amanda Ku.

The ensembles
There is a choir for everyone at LAHS! From students who have never sung in a choir before, to seasoned musicians with years of experience (and everyone in between), all are welcome in our Choir community.
Singers can grow through several choirs, from an open group for all levels of experience up to advanced, audition-based ensembles:
- Chorale (grades 9–12) — open to all students without an audition; suited for all levels of experience.
- Concert Choir (grades 10–12) — intermediate mixed choir; by placement audition and director recommendation; for singers with some prior choral music experience.
- Bel Canto (grades 10–12) — advanced treble (upper-voice) chamber choir; by placement audition and director recommendation.
- Volare (grades 10–12) — advanced mixed chamber choir; by audition and director recommendation; for experienced singers.
Placement auditions for the next year’s ensembles take place in the spring. Look out for more information early in the spring semester during the LAHS Course Selection process.
A year of singing
Our choirs perform throughout the school year, with a calendar that typically includes:
- Concerts on campus to share our music with friends and family
- Community performances, including a district choral showcase that connects our singers with our neighboring school choir programs
- Festivals and competitions — invitationals, regional choral festivals, and honor choir opportunities
- Spring Sing, a student-led concert that’s a favorite tradition
- Seasonal traditions like holiday caroling and Valentine Serenades that bring music across campus

2026–27 concerts
Concerts are in the LAHS Eagle Theater; the Fall Festival is a campus-wide event with every ensemble performing.

What the Boosters provide
Booster support helps cover festival and competition entries, travel, accompanists and clinicians, music and supplies, and the performance experiences that make our choirs shine. Choir maintains its own program fund, directed by its teacher toward the needs of the students.
